Sure, a box of candy or a sweet card are thoughtful gifts to give a loved one on Valentine’s Day, but personal, hand-made items can be a more meaningful way to express your love. These crafts make a great gift for a significant other or family member, any time of year, and are easy enough to craft out of just a few, easily-accessible materials.
Make A Meaningful Mug
Take a blank mug, and draw a Valentine’s design or write your own from-the-heart words on it with an oil-based permanent marker. (You might want to practice by drawing it on paper first, or on your mug with a dry-erase marker.) Let the permanent marker sit for a full day, and then put it in the oven cold. Set the oven to 425°F, and bake for 30 minutes.
Caution: The mug will be hot, so use oven mitts to remove it from the oven.
Show Amor Through Decor
Stop and take a look around your home to see the opportunities that are there to get creative. It won’t take very long to add some loving, thoughtful touches. Your gesture can be as simple as adding some paper hearts to already-existing branches, placing candles or vases on the mantel or nightstand, or even making a banner or “framing” your love.
